Lot Description
FROM THE WOLVERINE COLLECTION. LM-5. This is a beautifully toned and exceptionally well preserved GEM 1836 half dime. Sharply struck devices are frosted and stand out with satiny silver luster, particularly in the centers, and both sides are toned with a totally original blend of rose, gold, olive, russet, and tan. The eye appeal is outstanding! PCGS 4, NGC 4, CAC 2. Here's a clue to the rarity of this date in this grade: just 3 PCGS coins have sold in auction-the Gardner Collection coin was the only CAC approved example, selling for $12,925 in October 2014. More recently a non-CAC coin sold for $6,000 in September 2017 and the current Collector's Universe value is listed at $8,000. Just two coins are graded finer at PCGS. What a great coin for the type or date collector and worthy of a premium bid. Cert. Number 37927976 PCGS # 4288
