Lot Description: 1874 Liberty Seated Quarter. Arrows. Proof-65 Cameo (NGC). An exceptionally high quality and remarkably attractive specimen that holds particular appeal for the advanced type collector. A crescent of vivid olive-gold patina lines the lower obverse; mottled lilac-rose color is seen over the reverse. Cameo contrast is strong, and with a full strike and virtually pristine features to boot, there is much here that will satisfy even the most discerning numismatist. From a mintage of 700 Proofs, this being one of just two issues of the brief Arrows, Motto Liberty Seated quarter type of 1873 to 1874. Survivors in all grades are at very least scarce from a market availability standpoint, while at the Gem grade level, as here, the Proof 1874 is rare by any standard.
