- Lot Description
- From the collection of Keith Davignon, last appearing in MB 39, lot 13, where described as follows: A gossamer blanket of rose toning on the obverse discouraged PCGS from crossing this Condition Census rarity. A questionable decision at best. The reverse is silver-grey with undisturbed, cakey luster. A bag mark on the cap and minor ticks below the neck explain the modest NGC grade. The piece vies with the Frederick and Meyer specimens for numbers 2-3-4 in the Condition Census. Davignon understandably preferred this example to his PCGS AU 55 offered in my Jan. 2014 sale (MB #38 lot 16 @ $4,075.) Students of the series know just how difficult it is to find a high grade, eye appealing example of the `13-104. Acquired from Jack Beymer during the 2002 ANA Convention. Est. $3,250 to $4,250.
