Lot Description

The First Through Last Collection. Judd-1651 (R.7), goloid metric dollar. The special goloid alloy was comprised of 5.46% gold, 84.54% silver, and 10.00% copper, and has a tendency to tone just as a normal silver dollar might. Such is the effect seen here as a considerable amount of aqua-blue, crimson-gold and ruddy hues dominate the surface. As an experimental coin, strike quality can vary wildly and this example shows a plethora of parallel planchet striations near-horizontal across the portrait.
