- The 1906-D is the first Denver Mint eagle, and has a generous mintage of 981,000 pieces. Enough coins have been located in foreign bank reserves in recent decades that the 1906-D is readily available in grades up to and including MS-64. Earlier in the 20th century, however, when Mr. Stack collected, a handsome Choice EF such as this represented a noteworthy find. Deep orange-honey color blankets surfaces that are a bit glossy in texture from numismatic mishandling, the left obverse field also with a few faint scratches. Boldly defined, on the other hand, with faint traces of mint luster remaining to further enhance the coin's appeal.
