Lot Description
One of the finest known 1908 Proof dimes. This Superb Gem likely came directly from the Philadelphia Mint at the time of issue. Sold previously as lot 277 in our (Bowers and Merena's) August 1999 sale of the Childs Collection, described as:
A lovely gem with pale blue and rose iridescence on the obverse. The reverse is vividly toned...[in] concentric circles of electric blue, violet, and rose converge inward toward pale champagne at the center. One of 545 Proofs of the date struck, the lowest Proof dime production figure of the decade and the fourth lowest Proof mintage figure in the Barber dime series.
