1860-S Liberty Head Half Eagle. VF-30 (PCGS). CAC. Blended pale rose iridescence enlivens otherwise dominant honey-gold patina on both sides of this uncommonly smooth, handsomely original Choice VF example. The 1860-S half eagle is a prized rarity in all grades with fewer than 100 coins believed extant from a mintage of 21,200 coins, per the experts at PCGS CoinFacts. This is our first offering for this issue in six years, and as a premium quality mid-grade survivor it is sure to sell for a strong premium to an astute collector of Liberty Head gold coinage.
