1873 Seated Liberty Silver Dollar. Proof-61 Cameo (NGC). Pleasing for the golden-gray toning around the rims and into the fields, with the centers bright silver and flashy. Deep watery mirrors surround each of the devices, inducing the cameo effect that is so desirable visually on these early proofs. There are minor hairlines and these account for the grade level assigned. Mintage of 600 pieces only, and this is the final year of issue of the Seated dollar series. Furthermore, the reverse die is actually a double die, seen on 1872 Proof dollars as well with the doubling clearest on the left wing feathers and the Motto of IN GOD WE. Appealing overall and nice for the type or date collector.
