- 1859 Pattern Half Dollar. Judd-248, Pollock-287. Rarity-7+. Copper. Reeded Edge. Proof-65 BN (NGC). Anthony Paquet's somewhat haughty and perfectly upright figure of Liberty seated left, her left hand upon a shield, her outstretched right hand atop a fasces, 13 small stars around, tiny date below reverse with HALF / DOLLAR within a large cereal wreath. Obvious repunching noted at the 1 and 8 in the date. Deep golden tan motifs and fields are alive with bold neon blue and rose iridescence in a bright light source. One of just two examples of Judd-248 graded by NGC within any color designation, see below. Rare, with fewer than a half dozen examples of Judd-248 thought to exist.
