1853 N-20 R3 Repunched 53 PCGS graded MS64 Brown.Lustrous light olive with hints of light bluish steel overtone. Generous traces of mellowed mint red show on the obverse and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The notable marks are a dull vertical scratch from the left point of star 1 to the field before the nose where it fades away and a sharp diagonal nick on the left top of the E in CENT. M-LDS, die state b. The fields show radial flowlines on both sides and the earlier die lines over RI in AMERICA are gone. The repunching at the bottoms of the 5 & 3 is clear. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#11 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 4 finer: 2 in 64+, 1 in 65, 1 in 66.
