1872 Silver Three-Cent Piece. MS-64 (NGC). Richly toned surfaces reveal flashes of cobalt blue, deep rose and reddish-apricot highlights to dominant charcoal-gray patina. The 1872 is the final date in the circulation strike portion of the silver three-cent series (the 1873 is a Proof-only issue), and with only 1,000 coins struck it also has the lowest circulation strike mintage for the type.
