A lovely coin, significantly better strike than usually seen, with deep, rich luster. Attractive iridescent peripheral toning on both sides. A very remarkable quality 1929-S within the assigned grade, worthy of a strong bid. From a technical viewpoint, this piece is very interesting to view under high magnification. The obverse is a very early impression from the die, showing finish lines which around the rays of the sun are actually radial, a rather interesting aspect which we had not seen earlier. Regarding strike, the skirt lines are full, not often seen. The head of Miss Liberty is perhaps 80% full, and the only lightness overall is Miss Liberty's left hand (which, except for Proofs, is scarcely ever seen fully struck on coins of this design).
