- 1879 Liberty Quarter Eagle. Proof-67 Cameo (NGC). Impressive quality in an example of this important 1870s proof gold issue, both sides are virtually devoid of even trivial blemishes. There are no certainly no distractions to report, allowing one to focus on pinpoint striking detail and bold cameo contrast. Also possessed of handsome rose-gold color, this important rarity vies for Condition Census #1 for the issue with only one other Proof-67 Cameo listed at NGC.<br /> Very rare in all grades, the proof 1879 Liberty Quarter Eagle was produced to the extent of just 30 coins. Survivors are even fewer in number, and they probably total only 15-25 pieces.
