Lot Description

This is the more frequently encountered of the two known die pairings of the 1811 half cent, but the issue as a whole is scarce with a limited mintage of 63,140 pieces. All of these coins were struck during calendar year 1811 and, contrary to traditional numismatic wisdom, Bill Eckberg (2019) concludes that no 1810-dated examples were included in the reported mintage for 1811.
