Lot Description
Tompkins Die Stage 1/1, Rea et al. Die State P. An exciting second offering for a desirable Extremely Fine example of this rare Browning number from the impressive Steve M. Tompkins Reference Collection. This piece is deeply and richly toned with mottled powder blue, antique gold and pale rose undertones backlighting warm mauve-gray patina. A well struck coin, we note universally bold to sharp detail despite overall light wear to both sides. What few marks are present are small in size, deeply embedded in the toning, and of no concern during in-hand viewing.
Steve M. Tompkins Commentary: Despite this coin being in a slightly lower grade than the example in the preceding lot, I like it better. That made it difficult to resist when it came to auction.
