SUPER PLANCHET quality. It’s all about the surface color and planchet quality for early copper and this coin has both! Soft brown fields are a lovely accent to sharply struck devices. The hair strand details are fully delineated as are the veins in the reverse leaves. Slightly rotated reverse die. First year of issue for the newly introduced Classic Head design by John Reich. PCGS 22; NGC 16; CAC 14. Auction prices are all over the place. One sold in March 2018 for $3,120; another in November 2018 for $2,520 and in August 2019 a piece fetched $1,320 (spotted).
