- Lot Description
- The Mint employed two die obverse and three reverse dies in three pairings to strike 168,000 quarter dollars in 1825. This limited mintage is in keeping with the fact that this denomination enjoyed only sporadic demand from bullion depositors during most years during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Interestingly, both obverse dies are overdates, and both show more-or-less bold traces of both a 4 and a 2 beneath the primary 5.
