- 1783 Nova Constellatio Copper. Crosby 3-C, W-1875. CONSTELATIO, Blunt Rays. AU-58 (PCGS). 98.1 grains. The mostly hard and somewhat glossy deep chestnut-brown surfaces are a joy to behold and exhibit no marks sufficient to disturb the unassisted eye. The devices are fairly crisp throughout, especially on the reverse at the all-seeing eye and the surrounding glory of rays. We consider the present specimen to be about as nice as you will find for a circulated Nova Constellatio copper. Interestingly enough, Ted Craige's envelope comment for this specimen reads simply: "Nice Surfaces;" we couldn't agree more. Choice for the grade.
