1840-C Liberty Head Half Eagle. VF-25 (PCGS). CAC. OGH. An attractively original mid grade Charlotte Mint five with rich honey-olive patina and all major design elements well defined. The first Charlotte Mint half eagle with the mintmark located on the reverse, the 1840-C is a scarce issue with an uncommonly low rate of survival even for a Southern gold issue from the early 1840s.
