Lot Description

151.2 grains. Glossy light brown with good eye appeal and nearly smooth surfaces. Faintly granular under magnification, splashes of dark toning near the plow handles. Late die state with some failure near 3 o'clock on the obverse and evidence of a rim break above the reverse, SHI DS2. The Ford coin, whose obverse was plated in Maris, is only marginally sharper than this coin and was described as having "many shallow obverse scratches." Graded Fine, it realized $3,450. This piece is not a significant step down in quality, though the provenance is clearly not as gaudy. It would be a suitable addition to all but a few New Jersey copper cabinets.
