- Lot Description
- An attractive circulated example of a Noe number that is eagerly sought by both type collectors and series specialists. Warm steel-gray patina blankets surfaces that are free of distracting marks, flan flaws or other blemishes. Obverse impression typically offset for the variety, in this case to 1 o'clock, border into the inner beaded circle at upper right, trough the peripheral letters elsewhere. The tree and flanking pellets, however, are sharp for the grade and fully appreciable. The reverse is off center to 8 o'clock with little to no evidence of the peripheral lettering outside the beads from 5 to 11 o'clock; the fullest letters are the EW in NEW. Inner beaded circle complete and encircling a bold 1652 date and III denomination. Noe-34 is the early state of Noe-35, before extensive recutting of many of the design elements on the reverse.
