Lot Description

"1781" (Circa 1820) North American Token. W-13980, Breen-1144. URS-11. Copper. EF-45 BN (NGC). Probably struck in Ireland circa 1820, the North American Tokens are also believed to have circulated widely in what is now lower Canada. The present example was struck from worn dies--as always seen for the type--although the major devices present as suitably bold in detail despite the presence of overall light wear. Rich olive-copper patina throughout, the surfaces free of post-production distractions.
