1843-O Liberty Half Eagle. Large Letters. EF-45 (PCGS). Pleasing surfaces and eye appeal with classic greenish-gold surfaces that retain residual luster and a sharp strike. Mintage for this type is believed to be 82,000 although the number certified lends credence to the ratio of one-third of those seen being the Small Letters variety and two-thirds the Large Letters, instead of the reported one-fifth to four-fifths of the reported mintage figures. A scarce early coin from this mint.
