Lot Description

1864 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-62 (PCGS). Although the mintage for the 1864 (2,630 coins) is half that of those produced from 1861-1863, approximately the same number of Mint State coins are known for each of the issues. The present piece has frosty-to-satiny luster and a strong strike. Each side is accented with subtle rose-gold hues. A scarce to rare Civil War issue that is always in demand by gold specialists.
