Losbeschreibung
One of the prettiest toned 3CN we have offered in quite some time! Not only is it really high end, the proof 1865 is very scarce in any grade, but especially so in this lofty PR66 grade. Watery-reflective copper-nickel mirrors and boldly struck devices have a dusting of apricot-champagne tone with subtle and delicate hints of olive and icy rose pastel hues. The eye appeal is exceptional--you will have a hard time finding a nicer toned piece to be sure! A popular first year of issue and Civil War date which adds to the desirability of this low mintage issue. While not noted on the holder, the date is widely repunched. Only 500 proofs were struck during the final year of the Civil War. PCGS 13, NGC 11, CAC 4. The most recent CAC-approved example to sell in auction was an NGC coin that sold in June 2014 for $5,581. The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $5,750 and there are only a handful finer in the non-cameo designation. A great coin for any Civil War collector, or, if like us, you like this series, this could be coin #1. Cert. Number 6622086 PCGS # 3761
