- This spectacular Superb Gem is bathed in the characteristic deep honey-orange color that makes the 1908 a distinct issue in the Proof Indian eagle series. The surfaces are expertly preserved, virtually flawless in fact, and reveal no marks, "shiny spots" or other detracting signs of contact. Provenance purposes alone compel us to mention a small swirl of slightly variegated color close in to the obverse rim just before 9 o'clock and an even tinier alloy spot in the lower reverse field, above the letter D in DOLLARS. The strike detail is razor sharp throughout, with fine definition on Liberty's hair curls and the eagle's feathers. A stunning Indian eagle of exceptional quality and supreme beauty that will please even the most discerning collector of Sandblast Proof gold coinage.
