Lot Description

82.8 grains. Manley Die State 1.0. Handsome autumn-orange and chestnut-brown patina blankets surfaces that are hard, tight, and frosty. A few light, well scattered spots and marks account for the MS-61 grade, but these are more than offset by a bold to sharp strike and pretty champagne-pink and powder blue undertones.<p>Cohen-1 is by the far the scarcer of the two die marriages known for the 1825-dated half cent issue, Bill Eckberg (2019) accounting for only 450 survivors in all grades (as opposed to 4,100 for the C-2). The 1825 C-1 is actually the second scarcest variety among post-1811 half cents, and with examples scarce to rare in grades above EF, this significance of this NGC-certified and CAC-approved Mint State coin is obvious.
