- Lot Description
- 1834 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101. Rarity-1. Large Date, Large Letters. MS-65 (NGC).
This beautifully and originally toned example exhibits the most vivid iridescent patina of cobalt blue and reddish-apricot toward the left obverse and/or reverse borders. More reserved, yet still handsome antique silver and sandy-gray patina is seen elsewhere, speckles of russet here and there along the right borders also of interest. A fully frosted, sharply struck Gem that would do equally well in a high quality type or variety set. Unlisted in the Spring 2020 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR for Bust half dollars, yet still tied for CC#2 for the 1834 O-101 dies based upon the census therein.
PCGS# 39905. NGC ID: 24FY.
