1878-S Trade Dollar. MS-64 (PCGS). This handsome near-Gem is bathed in a blend of rich golden-copper, azure-blue, and steel-gray patina. Satiny luster remains vibrant despite the extensive nature of the toning, and a razor sharp strike is readily appreciable after even a cursory perusal of the surfaces. The final San Francisco Mint trade dollar, and one of the most readily obtainable in Mint State, the 1878-S is a perennial favorite among high grade type collectors. PCGS# 7048. NGC ID: 253G.
