- 1859 Pattern Indian Cent. Judd-228 Transitional, Pollock-272. Rarity-1. Copper-Nickel. Plain Edge. Proof-65 (PCGS). CAC. Obv: of the style of the regular-issue cents of 1859. Rev: of the style with federal shield atop an oak wreath as adopted in 1860. An intense display of cartwheel luster engages the surfaces of this bright golden specimen. Essentially mark-free save for a tiny natural planchet flaw, as struck, at the first A in AMERICA. Judd-228 has long been a staple addition to advanced Indian cent collections, and we suspect this beautiful pattern cent will soon find a new home in an appreciative steward's pattern holdings.
