- Lot Description
- 1865 Pattern Two-Cent Piece. Judd-409, Pollock-478. Rarity-7. Proof-64 (PCGS). An especially bright coin that retains essentially full mint color with slight fading toward golden-red, but the surfaces are free of carbon issues that so often plague the delicate copper surfaces. Fully struck and well preserved. The dies are that of the regular issue Two-Cent Piece of 1865, the pattern variation is the unusual planchet composition which is noted on the insert as 88% CU, 12% NI, weight as 93.7 grains. An elusive issue with just a handful known.
