1797 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-1. Rarity-2. Manley Die State 5.0. 1 Above 1, Plain Edge--Overstruck on a Cut Down Talbot, Allum & Lee Cen... Pleasing dark brown fields that offset the lighter brown devices. Considerable traces of undertype from the Talbot, Allum and Lee token are evident, including (Y)ORK at the 97 of the date, rigging and legends too, the reverse slightly less obvious as the patina is microscopically rough. The reverse legend is weakly impressed in areas undoubtedly because of the planchet used.
