- 1879 Pattern Morgan Dollar. Judd-1612, Pollock-1808. Rarity-7-. Proof-64 BN (NGC). A popular pattern with a broad following among collectors of both Silver Dollars and pattern coinage, Judd-1612 was struck using the same obverse design as the regular issue 1879 Morgan Dollar. The reverse design is different, however, and displays a spread-wing eagle with an olive sprig in its left (facing) talon and a bundle of three arrows in its right (facing) talon. The legend UNITED OF AMERICA is above and the denomination ONE DOLLAR is below. Struck in copper with a reeded edge.<br /> Fully struck and smooth, with richly original toning in a reddish-copper color. The overall appearance is not all that far from what we would expect to see in a specimen graded Proof-65 BN.
