Lot Description

Lot 149 1814 S-294 R1 Crosslet 4. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown.Lustrous golden tan and light chocolate with hints of light bluish steel overtones in protected areas. The only contact marks are a tiny tick on the nostril and a small planchet flake right of the nostril, and neither mark is visible without the aid of a strong glass. Traces of an old fingerprint show in the field at stars 4-7 and 8-10, and there is a small spot under the T in UNITED. Otherwise this cent is choice and the eye appeal remains excellent. M-LDS, Breen state II. There are faint die clashmarks at the throat and a raised ridge over TES-OF-A. Not seen by Noyes or Bland. Our grade is AU58+, very close to MS60. The attribution and Doug Bird Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
