Deep blue, mauve and gold iridescence highlight the immaculate surfaces of this SUPERB GEM. The strike is incredibly detailed, with the full 5 steps (5FS) at the base of Jefferson’s Monticello clearly defined. In 1966, the Mint added the initials FS at the lower obverse to denote the designer Felix Schlag, coincidental with the full steps (FS) designation numismatists apply to well struck examples of this type. PCGS 6, NGC 3, none higher. Listed in Collectors Universe for $3,150. No recent auction appearances, and practically unavailable in this lofty state of preservation.
