Silver-tinged and sharply struck, captivating semi-reflective qualities in the fields provide particularly strong eye appeal for this premium Gem Mint State example. The 1901-O is a challenging issue to collect in the certified PL category. Such pieces seldom display a cameo finish as the dies simply did not impart significant mint frost to the devices. Many are also poorly struck, but in the center of the obverse and throughout much of the wreath on the reverse. This is a universally semi-mirrored example, as befits the issue, but one that also sports an uncommon fullness of strike throughout the design. Carefully preserved, as well, there is much to recommend this superior 1901-O to the astute collector of prooflike Morgans.
