The 1891 dollar is a "silent stopper" in the Morgan dollar series. This date is in fact extremely RARE finer than the presently offered MS65+. Even at this grade level, it is VERY RARE. The surfaces are brilliant with a peripheral ring of multicolored, dappled toning. Featuring shades of cobalt, old gold, soft green, and apricot-rose tones that pop when the luster swirls in a light. Boldly struck throughout, the eye appeal is very pleasing overall. PCGS 280, NGC 115, CAC 22. PCGS has graded just 27 in MS65+. The most recent example to sell realized $4,320 and prior to that, one sold for $6,000. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,500. A mere ten examples are graded finer, only one, the finest MS67 being approved by CAC. This is an important opportunity for the serious Morgan dollar collector who demands CAC approval. Good luck!
