- Lot Description
- An attractively toned example exhibiting shades of champagne-pink, olive-gray, reddish-rose and cobalt blue iridescence splashed across the obverse and lining much of the reverse periphery. Boldly struck for the issue with splendid eye appeal stemming from the aforementioned toning. This Denver issue represents the tail end of the Morgan dollar series, which had been last struck in 1904, then after several years a modified version of this same design was put back into use in 1921 for a final trio of deliveries from the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco mints. Although large numbers were struck for the 1921-D, upper end Gems are scarce today, especially when vividly and attractively toned, as here.
