Lot Description
THE OGDEN AVENUE LADIES When you want the best, you buy from the best collections. This wonderful GEM came from the Meridian Collection, offered in our Regency Auction 34, lot 128, where it was described as: "WOW! Anyone who has studied Proof coinage knows that 1895 examples are generally well made in gold and silver; though the nickel was not struck with the same care. Clearly the presently offered coin was! It is of superior quality in every way! Bold mirrors glisten in the light with a strong depth, clarity and vivid reflection that contrasts against the frosty, sharply struck devices, imparting an awe inspiring cameo contrast. A fleck or two attest to the originality and the eye appeal is excellent. RARE any finer." PCGS 12, NGC 6, CAC 10. In our September 2019 Regency Auction, this coin brought $7,931, and more recently an example sold for $7,200. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $6,000, which is low considering the last three APRs. Just four 67 CAMs are graded finer, the most recent realizing $21,150 in our December 2017 Regency Auction. Clearly a stunning coin that we are certain will again bring a very strong bid from the advanced collector. Good luck! Cert. Number 29456112 PCGS # 83893.00
