1847-O Liberty Seated Quarter. Briggs 1-C. AU-50 (PCGS). This 1847-O offers superior quality and eye appeal for a key date New Orleans Mint issue. The obverse is adorned with iridescent reddish-gold toward the borders, while the reverse is more warmly and evenly toned in pearl gray. It is sharply defined in most areas and has particularly lively satin to semi-reflective luster remaining on the obverse. The 1847-O is one of the rarest and most conditionally challenging No Motto quarters from New Orleans, and even AU examples such as this are rated as Rarity-5+ in Larry Briggs' 1991 reference on this series.
