Lot Description

1872 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-65 (PCGS). Rich copper-mauve patina is a bit lighter on the reverse, both sides with halos of cobalt blue peripheral iridescence flashing into view as the coin dips into a light. Sharply to fully struck with an uncommonly smooth appearance overall. One of 950 Proof half dollars struck for the year, the typical survivor of which grades no finer than Proof-64.
