Lot Description

Faintly toned over satiny surfaces that exhibit an uncommonly bold strike in a Denver Mint nickel from the Roaring Twenties. Underrated relative to the better known Buffalo nickel strike rarities such as the 1919-D, 1919-S, 1920-S, 1925-D and 1925-S, the 1927-D is very challenging to locate in sharply defined Gem Mint State. The present example is certainly far finer than the typically offered Uncirculated survivor, and it would make an impressive addition to the finest Buffalo nickel set.
