Whether the correct attribution of this coin is S-11b or S-11c cannot be determined because the PCGS holder prevents viewing of the edge. Deep steely-charcoal fields support somewhat lighter golden-copper motifs, both sides with some semblance of a circulated cameo appearance. Obverse definition is universally bold throughout the design, that on the reverse equally so apart from at the lower border, where the denomination 1/100 is faint. There is virtually no border denticulation on either side. Close inspection with a loupe reveals microscopic roughness, but no sizeable or otherwise significant marks are seen. The Lettered Edge Sheldon-11 varieties are believed to have been included among the 11,825 cents delivered by the Mint on July 3, 1793, using copper supplied by Watson & Greenleaf. Estimated mintages for S-11b and S-11c are 2,500-3,000 and 6,500-7,000 coins, respectively.
