1871-H Round 50 Cents. BG-1041. Rarity-6+. Liberty Head. MS-63 (PCGS). This satin to semi-prooflike example is boldly struck with handsome honey-gold patina. The first known appearance for this rare variety was in Pine Tree Auction's sale of March 6, 1976, lot 2757. Since then few additional examples have come to light, and most that have are impaired from use as jewelry. With solid Choice Mint State quality and strong eye appeal it is little wonder that the present example numbers among the finest known to PCGS.
