1817/3 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101a. Rarity-2. MS-62 (PCGS). An ever-popular overdate variety and Mint State examples are scarce. This lustrous specimen is light to medium gray with overtones of golden-olive and blue-green. Cartwheel luster enlivens both sides, the reverse retains somewhat more of its original frosty texture than the obverse. Nicely struck throughout, all of the design elements are fully brought up and every bit of the intricate overdate detail can be appreciated. Provenance: From the Richard Jewell Collection.
