Lot Description
This is the FINEST graded coin in the DCAM/UCAM category graded by either service. A true GEM blazing Deep Cameo Proof example of this popular Civil War year. As bold, brilliant, and untoned as the day it was struck. The mirrors are essentially flawless as a freshly cut piece of glass, and they are deep, beaming, have a sensationally bold clarity. The devices by contrast are thickly frosted and stand out in dramatic fashion against the fields. The eye appeal is amazing. Only 550 Proofs were struck. PCGS 0, NGC 1. This is the ONLY ONE graded in a GEM DCAM grade at either service. Ex Heritage, July 2003, lot 8296; Bob Simpson Collection; Heritage, August 2010, lot 3306; Pannonia Collection, Heritage, September, 2014, lot 3233; unknown intermediaries; our consignor. The last time this coin sold, nearly eight years ago, it sold for $18,800 and the current Collectors Universe value is $32,500. A great type coin for anyone looking for the ultimate Proof Seated dollars. Good luck. Cert. Number 3319181003 PCGS # 97005
