1874 Shield Nickel. FS-101. Doubled Die Obverse. MS-65 (NGC). Among the finest certified for this elusive variety, this is a lovely Gem with delicate iridescent gold toning to smooth, satiny surfaces. In addition to the obverse doubling, there is an interesting concentration of die lines at the lower left border on that side, and both sides exhibit several pronounced peripheral cracks. Provenance: From the Q. David Bowers Collection. Combined PCGS and NGC Population (FS-101 attribution only): 3; 0 finer.
