- Lot Description
- 1860 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-65 (NGC). Much scarcer as an issue than a mintage of 1,000 pieces might imply, many proof 1860 Trimes are thought to have been melted in the Mint. This fortunate survivor is vividly toned in pale-gold, cobalt-blue and copper-rose colors that display a somewhat target-like distribution on the obverse. Sharply struck and smooth, with shimmering reflectivity readily evident at more direct angles. Conditionally rare as a Gem!
