1883 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-62 (NGC). Deep honey gold with lively rose iridescence on frosty devices and fully prooflike reflective surfaces. No overbearing marks assail the unassisted eye. <em>Just 900 examples of the date were struck for circulation purposes.</em> The surfaces are finer in overall appearance than typically associated with the grade. A rare date with a low mintage, even by the standards of a series that is chock-full of low-mintage issues.
