- 1861 Gold Dollar. MS-66 (NGC). CAC. 1844-D Liberty Quarter Eagle. Winter 5-H. AU-58 (NGC). Otherwise one of the most easily obtainable Type III gold dollars from the Civil War era, the 1861 develops into a conditionally rare issue in the finest Mint State grades. This splendid, premium quality Gem is bathed in vivid pinkish-rose patina that mingles nicely with vibrant mint bloom. Overall smooth and nearly pristine, with a needle sharp strike that touches all elements of the design. Lovely!
